History

At the station's launch on 7 April 2010, Price—who is also program manager—promised the station would be "in your face, controversial, opinionated".[4] Its main competitors are talkback stations 3AW and 774 ABC Melbourne.

Breakfast announcer Steve Price announced before the station opening that it "would skew to the right of politics".[5]

The station's office is in Swan Street, Richmond, in the same location as their sister station, sports-focused SEN.

News

MTR 1377 broadcasts 2GB's Macquarie National Newsfrom Sydney. The former Melbourne based newsroom was sacked in early December 2011 as part of a 'cost-cutting' measure.

Threat of Station Closure

As of November 2011, MTR is threatened with closure due to several issues, both ratings and legally related. The station's ratings have been much lower then anticipated and litigation is under way relating to program syndication from Sydney's 2GB. Richard Tate, CEO of Pacific Star Network which half owns the station, wants the station to have a cheaper management and staff structure. [6]

The station lost $6.2 million in the first twelve months of operation [7]
